Spotlight Reviews

I absolutely obsessed over this book the entire time I was reading it. I instantly fell in love with Jared, the best-friend-boy-next-door who was so obviously crushing on our heroine, Hanna. They story is well-written and the characters are well-developed. The book had a "Mortal Instruments" feel about it (minus the demons, vampires and werewolves). This story is all about fallen angels and the fight between light and dark, good and evil. I immediately bought the 2nd book in the series as soon as I finished it. I HAVE to know what happens!! Highly recommend.

This book is such a crazy ride! TL McDonald knows how to keep the action coming page after page. The book picks up right where MARKED left off, and there isn't a dull moment. I found Hanna even more relatable through this book because she is under such stress that it makes her lash out in ways that feel real, and I appreciate that she makes mistakes. For me, that makes her feel more human. McDonald writes in such a way that it really feels like a teenager is telling the story, which adds to that effect. It was also neat to see how different characters react to finding out what's really going on with her. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for a good love triangle that really makes me feel the heartbreak, and I definitely felt it in this book. Team Will all the way! I liked this book even better than the first (and I know how hard it is to get a sequel that lives up to the first book). I can't wait to see where the story goes in the next installment.
